Preparation For GCSE Results Day – Thursday 20th August 2026
We very much hope that you achieve the results that you hope for. However, should this not be the case, you still have lots of options and can get some help with any decisions you have to make. You’ll hear this a lot, but don’t panic if things don’t go to plan. This isn’t the end of the world, even if it feels like it.
Langley’s Independent Careers Adviser, Mrs Manjit Johal will be available to support you at school when you collect your exam results, along with Mrs Chachou, Langley’s Careers Coordinator.
Use the summer wisely to ensure you have a backup plan
You may need to consider changing sixth form or college – look around at other nearby colleges or sixth form institutions that may have lower entry requirements for similar courses or have a wider range of courses to consider. You have a number of options and paths open to you and can get help with any decisions you have to make, give the institutions a call directly.
National Careers Service, ‘Skills for Careers’ has everything students need to know about their options, including key information on resits, clearing, appeals, and more. Students can also chat to an expert careers adviser for free impartial support to help them choose the option that’s right for them. https://www.skillsforcareers.education.gov.uk/pages/young-people
Solihull Council’s, ‘Skills for Success Team’ offer free support to students in Year 11 who may not secure employment, education or training. The team is made up of qualified employment officers and they are at hand to discuss your post 16 training or work options and support you into a job or apprenticeship. They have a number of workshops available over the summer. Please note this service is available to all Langley School students regardless of whether they live in Solihull or Birmingham. Langley School Careers
On Thursday 20th August, you will be receiving your GCSE results for Summer 2026. They will be emailed to your school email address and the official paper copy is available to collect from school at 9-10:30 Please note that these are statements of provisional results, NOT formal certificates.
Occasionally the school may decide to challenge a result on your behalf. In order for us to do this we need the student’s permission. This can only be given after you have got your results. Please thoroughly read and complete this Summer 2026 Post Results Service – Candidate consent form – Fill in form This form opens on 20th August 8:30am.
We will contact you via your school email address in early September if we decide to proceed with this. Please ensure you check your school email address throughout September.
Your attached results show your overall grade and also your individual marks. The paper copy is available to collect from school at 9-10:30 on Thursday 20th August or after 3rd September in school. To understand in further detail please review the grade boundary information below.

If a result is not what you expected or you are close to the grade boundary, there is also the option to access your script and submit a review of marking. All requests must be made through the school – awarding bodies will not deal with students or parents directly. Please follow the links below to the relevant request/consent forms.
The school have different criteria for each subject where they may request a review of marking with the student’s permission funded by the school.
If you wish to request a review of marking outside of this, then the student should email from their school email address stating the subjects and papers that review of marking are requested for.
Students must understand that the final subject grade and/or mark awarded to me following a clerical re-check or a review of marking, and any subsequent appeal, may be lower than, higher than, or the same as the result which was originally awarded for this subject.
PLEASE NOTE: Exam boards make a charge for these services which must be paid before the request can be made. Please discuss this with Mrs Bambrook before you proceed. The school has stopped using ParentPay, so payment must be made my bank transfer to

Charges are per exam script and not per subject. Charges are refunded if the review is successful.

If you have any queries please contact Mrs Bambrook – Exams Officer at exams@langley.solihull.sch.uk. Mrs Bambrook will be available on results day and the following day to discuss reviews but these are normally deal with from the start of the Autumn term.
Your certificates will be presented at the formal awards evening on Thursday 20th November 2026. If you are unable to collect your certificates on that evening, you will be able to collect them from the school office during normal school opening times until 20th November 2027, after which we are not obliged to retain them.
If you are unable to collect your certificates in person, you will need to complete this Results and Certificate Collection 2026 Candidate Consent Form – Fill in form providing authorisation for someone to collect on your behalf.
