Appearance

Students are expected to come to school looking neat and tidy in correct uniform.  We request the co-operation of parents in ensuring that their sons/daughters keep strictly within the prescribed limits. Should any student need, as a temporary measure, to wear garments to school which do not conform to the uniform requirements or colours, an explanatory letter should be sent to his/her Head of Year.

Hair styles:  Length and colour should not be extreme. (A minimum required length is Grade No. 2 )  If long hair is worn it needs to be tied back for Physical Education and practical subjects. This is an essential safety precaution. 

• JEWELLERY MUST BE KEPT TO A MINIMUM OF ONE PAIR OF STUD EARRINGS
• NO OTHER JEWELLERY MAY BE WORN
• MAKE-UP SHOULD BE KEPT TO A MINIMUM AND NOT OBVIOUS
• ONLY CLEAR NAIL VARNISH IS ALLOWED

Apart from watches, no other jewellery is permitted. Students wearing additional jewellery will have it confiscated and this will have to be collected by parents. It is, of course, sensible to leave jewellery at home, in the interest of its safety. Hence the school accepts no responsibility whatsoever for items lost or damaged.

THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS REGARDING SCHOOL UNIFORM ARE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE HIGH STANDARDS OF PERSONAL APPEARANCE WHICH WILL ENHANCE THE IMAGE OF BOTH INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS AND OF THE SCHOOL. The full support of parents and care givers in maintaining high standards is greatly appreciated.

Indoor Uniform

Shirts: A plain white long or short sleeve shirt with the school tie.
Blazer: (compulsory) Plain black blazer
Blazer Badge: (compulsory) Available from Monkhouse Schoolwear,  Midland Schoolwear, Clive Mark
Tie: (compulsory)  All pupils are expected to wear the Langley School tie, available from Monkhouse Schoolwear, Midland

Skirts: A plain black knee length wide pleated skirt.
Trousers: Grey tailored trousers (non-lycra).
Jumper: Plain black knitted V-neck jumper over their shirt and tie.
Shoes: Pupils are expected to wear non-branded smart, durable, leather-look black shoes, examples of shoes in this style are
available on our website.
Socks/tights: Pupils should wear black ankle or knee length socks or black tights.

Outdoor Uniform

Outdoor coats should be plain and appropriate for school. Hoodies and tracksuit tops are NOT permitted.

P.E. Kit:  Boys and Girls All years

Sports short sleeve top - black with logo
Shorts / Skort - Black with logo (inside)
Outdoor zip top - with logo, black
Socks- Students should all have football socks for outside sports in the Autumn and Spring Terms. These can be red or black and should either be Langley uniform socks or non-branded plain socks. For indoor sports, students may wish to wear black non branded trainer socks.

PE Kit Alternatives:

From September 2022 we will accept the following alternatives to our uniform requirements for PE:

• Black non-branded lycra sports leggings – instead of leggings displaying the Langley logo
• Black non-branded knee length sports shorts – instead of shorts displaying the Langley logo
• Black non-branded skort – instead of a skort displaying the Langley logo
• Black non-branded football socks – instead of red football socks displaying the Langley logo

For all students, it is recommended that these items are also provided. More details of exactly when they will be needed for will be given out in September.
