EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Extra Curricular Activities

Langley School provides education for our students that goes beyond the classroom. There are a variety of opportunities for our young people to engage in a wide range of activities and if a child is leaving school at 3.05 every day, then they are not benefitting fully from their school experience!

During a typical week, there are well over 40 clubs for our students to enjoy. These range from Jazz Band, Cross-Country and Art to Drama, Rowing and Debating. There really is something for everyone at Langley and we strongly recommend that all students engage in at least one activity – even if it is trying something for the first time in their lives!

Each year a number of trips and visits are arranged. In the past Langley students have visited: France, Germany, the Belgian WW1 battlefields, the USA, Russia and China. There are other visits within the UK, of course, including Geography field trips to the coast, music trips to The Cavern, Liverpool and Symphony Hall, Birmingham, visits to see drama performances in the West End, London activity weekends, Manor Adventure, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Birmingham and Oxford Universities.

We also encourage our students to involve themselves in the local community. In Year 10, our students complete a work experience week, which gives them an insight into the ‘real’ world. Some students support local primary schools and special schools during sporting or Arts events, some participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, others represent our school at Borough, regional and national level in a range of sporting, debating and Arts-related events. Our students support in-house events as part of the Arts or Sports Leaders Award scheme and last year approximately 300 students volunteered as guides for our Open Evening and Open Morning.

All of these events culminate in our Awards Mornings in the summer term when families are invited into school to share in and celebrate the numerous events, successes and achievements that have occurred over the academic year.
